DIY Milk Jug Decor

This is seriously one of my favorite things in my house. I made a few of them and they are perfect for that “Farmhouse” look.

First you’ll want to drink some Starbucks coffee. NOT from a Starbucks, but the ones from the grocery store that come in the great bottles. I don’t know how much it costs, but a few dollars (which is sadly cheaper than going to an actual Starbucks to get a drink) Drink it. Enjoy it. DON’T THROW THE BOTTLE AWAY! Wash it, then let it soak in some hot water with a drop. I literally mean a drop of DAWN dish soap. pull the stickers off with your fingers then use one of these scrub buds:

These are my favorite scrub buds ever! you can run them over your panty hose and it won’t scratch them, but you can also rub them on any surface or dish and it will be protected while it takes the nasty seriously right off. I can’t say enough about these and how much I think everyone needs them.

After you do this, gather your other supplies:

  • Sharpie
  • White Spray Paint
  • Floral Pick (or not)

Are you ready for the hard part?

Just kidding there isn’t a hard part to this project. Spray paint 3 VERY THIN layers of white spray paint on your bottle letting them dry for about 30-45 mins. in between each layer. Then let the paint dry for an hour or two. Get your sharpie and write “Milk” on the jug. You can use a floral pick in yours or simply leave it “as is” either way it’s cute and shouldn’t cost more than a few dollars. OR if you’re like me you have 97 cent spray paint laying around at all times and you drink coffee like it’s going out of style so the cost of the floral pick (97 cents at Wal-Mart or $1 at Dollar Tree) is the only cost you incurred during this project. I’d say that’s much better than the going rate of Farmhouse decor these days.
