Friday Favorites #4

So, it has been forever since I have done a Friday Favorites. I actually had just started it and then life got crazy. I will write later on the craziness, but let’s just say, I had a baby, started a new business, my husband was diagnosed with leukemia, and our lives are crazy. BUT I have been feeling the need to blog and if for no other reason, just to process my thoughts and my life lately. So, here’s some Friday Favorites. I have also started a new project (I know, shocker! Like I don’t do that every other day)…I’ll share soon about that and I am continuing with Friday Favorites, but it won’t be as uniform as I had thought it would be. I’m thinking just a Sparrow story and a few other things.

Weekly dose of Sparrow:

She is the BEST! BTW she is 7 months old now. I can’t even believe how fast it has gone by. Y’all she has been such a trooper. She stayed with us the last hospital stay the entire time and did GREAT! I love her so much! She is such a ham. The doctors, nurses, techs, and everybody just loves her up there and she totally hams it up. I think she particularly likes a few of the nurses/techs better than others, probably because they come and talk to her and have spent more time around us since we have been there, but it’s awesome. I love watching her interact with other people. She also eats baby food now! (cue, momma’s sad face). She absolutely loves food, except for peaches, she actually cried when Caleb fed them to her and wanted nothing to do with them. She is the most mild tempered baby in the world, I kid you not! Her favorite toy is still Ms. Pinky, but her little Lamby is up there. I haven’t figured out how to keep her face and neck from chapping any suggestions mommas? She drools from teething and she rubs her face in everything when she has tummy time so there is not getting around it. I have tried diaper cream, vaseline, coconut oil, and lotion. Any other ideas?

A Few Other Things:

My friend Sharalee has a cupcake biz called Cupcake Inc. and can I just tell you that I don’t even like cupcakes…BUT I literally crave these. I haven’t ever had a cupcake as perfect and I have had them on multiple occasions and they are always the same amount of greatness. For the Valentine’s Weekend she is also doing homemade chocolate covered marshmallows and strawberries. I highly recommend you hurry and order before Valentine’s Day is gone.

Another note that has to do with baked goods, but not about Sharalee’s amazing cupcakes is that there is going to be a Bake Sale at Plains Capital Bank on Valentines day. They are raising money for our friend Jennifer Brinkmann who was in a terrible car accident in early December that has left her with several broken bones, and a very long road to recovery. Praise the Lord that she is going to recover though.

Friday Favorites #3

Here we go again. Friday Favorites #2
I would really love to hear your’s each week.
This week:
Product Spotlight: My favorite product this week, I actually made. Chalk Board Paint. I did a detailed tutorial a very very long time ago on my old blog Chosen for chalk paint and not too long ago I did chalkboard paint (there is a difference) but I am not a great recipe follower. I used 1 small bottle of acrylic black paint, about 2 TBS. Cornstarch, and 2 TBS water. I chose not to use the baking soda because I had a good base in my frame already & I made the executive decision not to use it. Looking back, I probably should’ve followed the recipe and I might later on for a top coat, but I think it turned out pretty darn cute: What do you think?

P.S. Those orange pumpkins were painted white shortly after this picture was taken & they look soooo much better!

Weekly Dose of Sparrow: This week my sweet little babe has been feeling horrible. She’s been such a little trooper though. We’ve been running like chickens with our heads cut off non-stop, until I finally told Caleb I am not doing anything but taking her to her Dr. appointment the rest of the week. He quickly agreed she needed a break and some rest at home to fight off this ridiculous cold. All of that to say that it’s been a challenging week, and I am not glad at all that she’s sick…But because she’s sick, she’s been extra clingy to Momma & I am not complaining about that one bit. I love it when she holds on to me as tight as she can and cuddles. It is the sweetest thing in the whole world!

Joy Comes in the Morning: This week the thing that brought me the most joy was probably getting all my clothes hung in my closet. I know that doesn’t sound like an exciting thing; but I’ve been cleaning it out for almost 2 weeks & that was some serious progress.

What’s the Word?: Faith as small as a mustard seed can move mountains. Matthew 17:20 I haven’t actually read that verse this week in my Bible study, but it has been referenced in enough conversations for me to notice and I saw it on multiple Insta accounts today. So, I thought I ought to share it.

Insta Lovin’: II am loving these farmhouse instagram accounts this week. Since I’ve decided to refresh/redecorate/remodel our house I thought it’d be fun to share the progress, the DIY’s and my reasoning for all of it AND take part in some Insta hashtag feeds. This is how I found this beautiful account.

Friday Favorites #2

Here we go again. Friday Favorites #2

I would really love to hear your’s each week.

This week:

Product Spotlight: My favorite product this week, I actually started using about 6 weeks ago. It’s called HYDRA-V by Artistry. It’s a 3-5 step skin care system. I have used almost all their skin care systems in the last 4 years & this one (I think) is my favorite.

Weekly Dose of Sparrow: This week my favorite moments with Sparrow have been in the mornings. She has started smiling really big when she wakes up. I tickle her tiny belly & chin and it is just the sweetest little thing. I also love right after she’s done eating when I burp her on my shoulder then she falls asleep and gets really cuddley. Then I ust squeeze her and kiss her chubby little cheeks. And oh that mohawk! Love!

Joy Comes in the Morning: This week the thing that brought me the most joy was Caleb. He has been working so hard at work and then he comed home and still takes Sparrow and spends time with her and gives me alone time. And he does dishes and washes bottles and cleans and I can’t even comprehend where he gets the energy to do all those things. I am literally worn out more than ever in my life, and it’s a serious struggle to get things done and he just does it all. He is the best husband and daddy!

What’s the Word?:

This week I have been studying Ecclesiastes preparing for that study and I can’t just pick one verse. But it talks about everything being vanity and striving after the wind. I have struggled to live like that even this week. We have so many things that pose as “important” or “have to’s” or “must have’s” in this world…especially in America, but they are all vanity and striving after the wind. And the hardest thing is living with that mindset for all things but the Kingdom.

Insta Lovin’: If I could buy every pattern in thos dress for Sparrow I would and she can’t even fit in them yet!

32 Weeks “Bumpdate”

Baby Update:

I haven’t shared in quite a while. So here goes…

I am at 32 weeks this week! AHH!!! That’s still crazy to me that in about 8 weeks I am going to have the sweetest little girl ever and I can’t wait!

We had a Doctor’s appointment a few weeks ago and shocker! I haven’t gained as much weight as I should be. It actually is a lot harder than people think to gain weight when you are pregnant and sick for most of it! I am reminded of it every time someone tells me how cute and little my belly is. They don’t know that they’re a reminder of the worry that goes along with not being able to gain like I should, so I don’t get mad. It’s just hard some days especially when I do feel good and I feel like I am eating for 2…elephants…and nothing happens. But HOPEFULLY this Wednesday after our HOPEFULLY last sonogram we will get a good report of how big she’s getting and how we’re both gaining an appropriate amount of weight. I am praying for that!

If we’re not, I think we will have to go on a much more strict schedule of checking on everything and I’ll probably be worried even more than I am now. Even writing this right now is a reminder and wigs me out and makes me think about it. BUT I keep reminding myself of 1 Peter 5:7 (you might want to check that verse…I could be wrong, but I’m pretty positive that’s right). It says “…casting all your worries on Him, because He cares for you.” I keep preaching that to myself over and over and telling myself that I can cast all my worries on Him because He truly and deeply cares for Caleb, Little Miss Lain, and I.

Other Random Thoughts:

It’s such a huge responsibility being a parent. I am already nervous and already terrified of the hard parts (example when she’s old enough to date….I will have a heart attack probably). I am already praying that she will grow up to know Jesus and have a relationship with Him. It takes faith to a whole new level when you start to think about your children knowing Christ! Seriously! It’s something you don’t really think about until it is in your life and then you can’t not think about the giant responsibility you have to teach them how great our God is and how much Jesus loves them. It’s crazy to think about!

What are some things that were a big deal to you leading up to having your first child (adopted or biological)?

Hurry Up Little One

I just can’t stop staring at all her lil sonogram pictures. Last week we got even more pictures and it’s so weird/awesome/cool/creepy/surreal/humbling/wonderful to see her on these sonograms. I seriously don’t know how people did this without getting all these cute pictures before they even get here.

I am getting so excited for her to be here. On our way to the church today to drop Caleb off with the college students he was talking about how we are about to be a family of 3 and I really can’t wait! Today marks 31 weeks and it feels like the next 9 weeks are going to go by so slow, but I know it will be faster than I think…I’m just so ready to meet her.

Hurry up little one I’m ready to meet you & see your face & kiss you & cuddle & go on adventures with you & Daddy & listen to you & Daddy make up funny little ditties about my cooking & learn your little personality & teach you to be uniquely you because that’s how God is forming & molding you right now & share with you about how much more He loves you than Momma & Daddy even could…and that’s like way more than to the moon & back x’s infinity & beyond, I am just so stinkin’ excited to meet you!

Pregnancy Tips, Tricks, & Info

As some of you already know if you came here from Instagram; we are having a sweet baby girl! I seriously can’t wait to meet her. I talk to her everyday and she kicks like we’re “actually communicating” but then she kicks all the time so I’m really just pretending we’re talking, ha! It’s so strange having to wait to meet someone that you are already so intimately familiar with, but I am so excited for that day!

Anyway, back to the reason for this post: I can’t wait to share all the awesome tips, tricks, and information I have learned throughout this pregnancy already.

For today’s post I just want to share they easiest and most gotten advice I have heard for morning sickness. When I say most gotten, I truly mean that pretty much every person that asked me about my morning sickness told me this tip. I’m sure you have even heard it already.

Are you ready for it?

Eat a few crackers before you get out of bed.

At first I tried this and it didn’t do anything, I think sometimes you’re just going to have annoying morning sickness (or as I like to call it ALL DAY sickness) but after a while there seems to be point that this tip really does help. Even today I am well into my second trimester and I had to sit up and eat a few crackers before getting out of bed. With this said, it’s not the only morning sickness remedy. I’ll share quite a few more later on, but this seems to be one of the best, easiest, and cheapest remedies that works most of the time. I hope this is helpful! I would love to hear all of your tricks and tips to beating or at least battling morning sickness.

Update on Baby Lain

She still remains nameless, but I really like a name, Caleb just ins’t quite sold on it. So, I keep joking that I’m going to wait until I’m in the middle of labor and say, “You really like the name don’t you?” Ha! I told a friend and her husband last night and he said, “Or he could do like I did and wait until you’re on drugs to say, ‘you really like the name I picked out don’t you?'” Either way, we’ll find the perfect one for her.

We go back to the Dr. next week to find out how tall she is and all the details on her progress and my weight gain. If you don’t already know, I have been pretty sick (hence the top part of this post) and have lost quite a bit of weight and I have been trying really hard to put on some weight to give her some room to move around and ensure that she’s at a healthy weight, so please pray that I will be able to gain a few pounds for her sake. Anyway, she is good and actually was at a healthy weight at our last appointment, but they were just worried about from here on out. So, naturally so am I.

She is a little kicker and a night owl. She literally stayed up kicking, almost non-stop, from 3:30 am to 11 am that next morning the night before last. Last night, I actually got a pretty good night’s sleep, comparatively speaking, but I’m thankful for it!

I will update with more details after our next appointment. I can’t wait to see how big she is!
